I received word about a conference called ‘140 Twitter Conference‘. (#140tc) being put together by the Parnassus Group out of Seattle, WA.
Finding out that there was 2 days of a conference had me shocked.
Why? Is Twitter THAT complex that you need 2 days to learn how to use it?
Connecting with the Parnassus Group, I was able to do some reach-out via twitter and help bring in registration/attendees. By doing so, I was able to connect to people before the conference even started.
#140TC: Met Dave Peck approximately 10 minutes before the first panel started. Extremely personable and he was stoked to meet ME! Nothing better than having a panelist happy to meet you before you have even had a chance to shake hands. Already off to a good start.
Found out that there were over 300 registered attendees, making 140TC sold out.
As I got a chance to talk to more and more of the folks attending the conference, it was a split demographic.
Half of the conference was developers, looking for a way to 1.) meet a Venture Capitalist for their twitter application or 2.) the new Web 2.0 user who has just found out about Twitter from the celebrity (Oprah/Ashton/Cnn) phenomenon and want to become big on twitter or learn about what web 2.0 is all about.
@rusdaddy even flew 5370 miles to attend the conference:

Relatively priced for 2 days averaging approximately $300, the conference was a great deal….if you were an advanced user of Twitter. Someone who was already established in the community with a great amount of technical knowledge. Unfortunately, for a new user, the conference may have been a tad more advanced than what they were looking for.
Damon Cortesi (@dacort) created an amazing tool for the new and existing user. Tweet Stats. Monitor your tweets in several different formats such as charts and a tweet cloud. Amazingly talented and a bottle full of knowledge. I sat next to him on the 2nd day and was admittedly cross eye’d when I looked at his screen as he sat through the conference coding for a website that he plans on launching soon.

Those who were amongst the presentation panels who we all know and love, @scobleizer, @briansolis, @ijustine, @missrogue, @stop and others! For a full list of presenters visit the 140 Twitter Conference site.
The folks that I met that really stood out from the crowd and I highly recommend following: @jeradhill, @michaeltomko, @davepeck, @godaddyguy, @ross

Thanks to @joetv and @dacort for providing me with food for the day via @starbucks
To find more photos from the 140 Conference from my perspective, follow me on Flickr, or do a search for 140tc for photos from myself and others.
Did I get anything from the conference? Honestly, no. The panels went off topic several times, distracting from the title of the conference, and losing my attention onto other things. Not to say that it was a bad thing, I was there as a marketer and there were topics that were not of interest to me.
Was I impressed? Yes! For the first official Twitter conference, it was well put together.
Would I go again? Yes, I would highly recommend attending this conference for any developers and/or established ‘tweeters’ looking to advance their knowledge/skills.
For those who were at the conference, I am glad you had a chance to see my car…sorry I couldn’t take you for a test drive I had to get it back before midnight.
